Nanocomposite Ceramics

Nanocomposite ceramics are technical ceramics which are strengthened by nanoscopic features such as whiskers or particles to further improve their overall structural integrity. The use of such features helps to prevent the growth of micro-cracks in ceramics’ structures.

Some advantages that can be derived from the use of nanocomposite ceramics are:

  • Improvement in mechanical properties
  • Increased thermal stability
  • Better chemical resistance
  • Changing the electrical conductivity of ceramics

Diamorph AB (publ) has extensive experience with the use of nanoadditives such as ceramic whiskers, ceramic particles, ceramic nanofibres, metal particles and carbon fibres in nanocomposite ceramics.
